Executive Orders from the White House
January 23, 2025
During his first few days in office, President Trump has issued dozens of executive orders (EOs) covering wide swaths of policies, departments, and constituencies. Many of these have profound implications for nonprofits and the people and communities we serve. Our national network, the National Council of Nonprofits, has prepared a summary grid of some of those rules, with links to additional information, at https://www.councilofnonprofits.org/files/media/documents/2025/chart-executive-orders.pdf. BOOKMARK THIS LINK and revisit it regularly, as this document will be updated frequently.
Without question, these directives are frightening in their volume and breadth. Not all take effect immediately or can be implemented right away. Some are constitutionally questionable, and some lawsuits to challenge them have already been filed. We want to do our best, in concert with partners and leaders, to be strategic in determining what has traction, who is leading on what, etc., so that we can focus our resources where they can be of best use and amplify the news and work of others. We’ll keep you updated, and ask that you please do the same.
If you’d like to connect with other national and New Jersey advocacy organizations that are active in public policy on a wide array of issues, check out this “first-stop” list on our website.

As part of that promise, we have a responsibility to advance an equitable society, to shine a bright light on the harsh reality of systemic racism and injustice and to actively work against it."
